April 26, 27 & 28, 2019

The 2019 Gathering of the Guilds show is scheduled for April  26-28. We will once again be in Hall A of the Oregon Convention Center (OCC) and all of last year’s guilds are returning. This means we will again be sharing space with the Portland Bead Society, Guild of Oregon Woodworkers, Portland Hand Weavers Guild, and Creative Metal Arts Guild as well as the Oregon Potters Association.

As co-chairs of the 2019 Glass Gallery, we want to welcome you, introduce your Glass Gallery team, share some basic information, and encourage you to produce lots of beautiful art for this event.

CHAIRPEOPLE

Many of last year’s show leaders are turning the reigns over to other OGG members this year. We still have a need for someone to coordinate the mailing of the event postcards, for a second person to help with the Justice window display and for a driver to help retrieve the furniture for the artist gallery from our storage unit. Please contact Ann Mackiernan if you are willing to fill one of these positions. All of these jobs will fulfill some or all of your volunteer hours to reduce your commission payment.

BOOTH FEES

Good news, there are no changes in booth fees for the 2019 show. Note that you must be a current OGG member to apply. If you are not a current member, your membership application and fee must be included before your application will be considered.

COMMISSION SCHEDULE

We have kept the same commission schedule as for past shows, which is scaled based on number of hours volunteered. Vendors opting to do no volunteer work before, during or after the show pay a 25% commission. Volunteering 4 hours decreases this to 15%. Additional steps of two volunteer hours each decreases the rate to 12% (for 6 hours total) and 10% (for 8 hours total). It is each vendor’s responsibility to arrange their volunteer hours with Greta Schneider before April 10 or they will be subject to the full 25% commission.

GROUP BOOTH, SHARED BOOTHS

If there are enough artists who would like to have small spaces at the show, we will once again have a Group Booth. These spaces are shared tables – each artist gets one end of an 8’ x 2’ table (for a total of 4’ x 2’ of surface space), and the guild provides lights. We need at least ten artists who would like to participate in this way, and can have no more than 12 Group Booth participants. If you are interested in this, we recommend getting your application in early.

Similarly, if you would like to share a booth with someone, but do not yet have a possible partner, please let Ann Mackiernan know. We will work to pair people in this situation but a match may not be possible.

BOOTH SELECTION

Acceptance to the show and the assignment of booths are, for the most part, on a first come, first served basis. We will do our best to accommodate everyone’s request for booth preference but are limited by our space constraints. Artists will be placed based upon the type of work they do and in the order in which their completed application was received. The final floor plan will be dependent upon number of vendors, size of booths requested, and types of work represented.

Members who participated in the 2018 show who want to have the space they had last year reserve it by submitting applications and full payment no later than January 15, 2019.
